Matthew Lillard Joins DBD as New Killer, But Not as Ghostface

As Behaviour increases its licensed partnerships in Dead by Daylight several big names will join The Fog in upcoming crossovers.

In my opinion Nicolas Cage being in Dead by Daylight is one of the craziest moments in recent gaming. The famous actor has been a chaotic survivor in the game for two years and since then even more well-known people have joined the game.

The team behind the multiplayer game takes great pride in its crossovers and collaborations. Game director Mathieu Cote says. Every time we do a collaboration it becomes an obsession and it should be. He adds. It’s the most important thing we’ve ever done at the moment. They've worked with Iron Maiden, Tokyo Ghoul, Slipknot and the famous Junji Ito. Bruce Campbell returns as Ash Williams and Doug Bradley voices Pinhead. Now with the release of the highly anticipated Five Nights at Freddy's chapter Matthew Lillard joins the Dead by Daylight cast as William Afton.

During the DBD anniversary stream at PAX. it was announced that the killer character for this year's FNAF chapter is Springtrap also known as The Animatronic. Game designer Jason Guzzo explained that Springtrap is key to the FNAF story calling him the big bad. He said they worked hard to make sure his abilities and overall feel matched the FNAF universe. The exciting part is that this is the first time players will get to wear his suit in a video game which is a special and cool experience.

The Yellow Rabbit is a special skin for Springtrap. Cote says The chapter is mostly inspired by the games especially the first one but this skin is from the movie. It's a Legendary for Springtrap and lets you play as the Yellow Rabbit from the movie. It even has Matthew Lillard's face and voice as he recorded all the voiceovers for the character. It's really cool.

During the ninth anniversary stream more collaborations were announced. There will be new cosmetics including a crossover with The Witcher. The collection has six outfits with two of them being Legendary. One outfit turns The Artist into The Leshen while Vittorio becomes Geralt voiced by Doug Cockle the original Geralt voice actor. To celebrate a Witcher-themed Chaos Shuffle is coming soon.

Other outfits bring Eredin, Ciri, Yennefer and Triss into The Entity's world. But that's not all. We can now add more types of items Cote says. For example there's a charm with a small wolf medallion and also a player banner featuring Geralt relaxing in his bath which has become famous in The Witcher world.

In the upcoming cosmetic updates Lara Croft will get a new tactical outfit, along with a Unified Lara look featuring a mint vest and shorts. We're also excited about the Boulet Bros outfits coming on Tuesday July 8, 2025. This includes Asia Consent's winning costume for The Huntress and an outfit for The Artist which is designed after the Boulet Bros themselves. Lastly Frank Stone won't have his own chapter in DBD but will be available as a Legendary outfit for The Trapper.

A lot of exciting new licensed content is coming to Dead by Daylight soon but there’s also some great original content too. The next killer is based on classic folklore like The Twins and The Huntress. After that fans will get to pick their own Dead by Daylight adventure in a DLC that hasn’t been decided yet.
