Before I started playing Pioner the developer GFA Games mentioned that they made the game easier for this early multiplayer preview. I’m not the best gamer but I usually do well especially in shooters. I play Doom on Ultra-Violence. had a 2.2 kill-death ratio in Battlefield 3 and can handle Escape From Tarkov. But the factory raid in Pioner kept beating me and my two teammates. Escape From Tarkov clearly influenced it but it looks more like Stalker 2 and Fallout. If you want a tough FPS and MMO mix Pioner might be a game you’ll enjoy.

Pioneer's post-apocalyptic world, called Tartarus is over 50 square kilometers big. The game has smaller areas for PvE, PvP and social activities. You can upgrade and change your weapons. The harder the challenge the better the reward. Similar to Tarkov doing tasks for in-game merchants makes them more friendly and more likely to offer you better deals.

You can trade gear with other players. but if you go to the Shadowlands a special area in the game, you might lose everything. The game has a campaign survival mechanics like hunger and rest and you can even go fishing. Overall Pioner feels like an MMO version of Stalker 2.

It’s tough. You’ll face lots of regular enemies mini bosses, raid bosses and other players. Teaming up with different factions and crafting better weapons can help you survive. but rushing in without thinking will still get you punished. Your character is heavy and slow and taking items from your inventory takes time and focus. At its best it feels like Tarkov with a bit of Hunt Showdown and Rust mixed in.

We don't know the release date yet. but you can already find Pioner on Steam and add it to your wishlist.
