Ubisoft has quietly improved parkour in the new Assassin's Creed Shadows update with bigger changes coming soon.
The latest update for Assassin's Creed Shadows quietly changes the parkour system in an important way though Ubisoft didn’t mention it in the patch notes. The studio known for Far Cry and Rainbow Six Siege has big plans for the game but decided to add a small improvement to free running early. While it wasn’t included in the patch notes there’s video showing what’s been changed.
Ubisoft is making Assassin's Creed Shadows better with Title Update 4. This free update added a new quest chain improved the Codex system and fixed many bugs. More updates will come later this year and in May the game’s parkour system will get more improvements. But it seems Ubisoft couldn’t wait and released some changes early.
Ubisoft shared on Twitter/X that the community parkour expert Ropotopolous noticed a small change to parkour in Title Update 4. The parkour developers were eager to make an improvement and added a slight boost to help maintain height while free running.
Ubisoft mentions in the comments of Ropotopolous's video (via GamesRadar) that you'll see better reliability in maintaining height during parkour. They also mention that this is part of preparing for an update later this month that will improve side and back ejects to help gain height. They hope you enjoy these early changes.
You can check out Ubisoft's parkour improvements in the video above where Ropotopolous shows what's new. He mentions that targeting objects now feels more stable and predictable with the game focusing more on foot landings than hand ones. Ubisoft will release more parkour updates in late May but this surprise change is already a nice touch.
