007: First Light Release Date, Trailers & Everything We Know

IO Interactive's James Bond game now has an official name 007: First Light. That means we can start getting excited for its release date.

When is the 007 First Light release date? In 2020 the makers of Hitman 3 IO Interactive said they were working on a James Bond game called Project 007. Since then there hasn’t been much news about it including a release date.

On June 2, 2025 IO suddenly revealed the name of their new game: 007 First Light. They shared just one image and said more info would come later in the week. While we wait here’s what we know so far about the release date, trailers and what the game might include.

Estimated 007 First Light release Date 

IO announced in a press release that 007: First Light is a third-person action-adventure game telling a new version of James Bond’s origin story. It’s set to come out in 2026. So we’ll likely get to play it next year.

The new game 007 First Light was just Announced and we don’t know much about how it plays yet. But we do know the project started back in 2020. The studio, IOI usually releases new games every two years like they did with the early Hitman titles. So after five years it’s likely that First Light is almost finished.

After a Nintendo Direct show in April 2025 we learned that 007 First Light and Hitman World of Assassination will come to the Nintendo Switch 2. Hitman World of Assassination will be available when the Switch 2 launches on Thursday, June 5 2025.

We hope IOI will quietly release First Light on Thursday. But the big IO Interactive event that will share more about the game is on Friday, June 6, 2025. Hopefully they will announce the release date then.

007 First Light Trailers Watch the Latest Previews

The only 007 First Light trailer we have is a short teaser for Project 007. It came out in November 2020. In the video you see a bullet going into a gun barrel. The camera moves inside the barrel then you hear a gunshot while looking down the barrel of the gun.

Instead of showing Bond at the end the game’s original codename appeared on a red background not the usual white.

We now understand that First Light tells the story of how James Bond began. This was shown by following the bullet from when it was put into the gun.

007: First Light Gameplay Details and What to Expect

We only know that 007 First Light is a James Bond origin story. Nothing about the gameplay has been shared yet. More details will come later this week.

Since the game is made by Hitman's IO Interactive we can expect it to have similar gameplay. The spy will use a lot of stealth while learning and trying to earn his code name.
