A free PC game is always exciting, but if it is a must-play FPS with a great atmosphere and I get even more excited. Sharing the same tone and survival-based focus as the Stalker series the Metro franchise has produced some sensational shooters and now the remastered version of the game that started it all, Metro 2033 Redux is being given away for free.
While I completely understand that your library is probably already full of unplayed games. you can never turn down something that's free especially when it is this good. Metro 2033 released in 2010 is a first-person shooter set in post apocalyptic world. It features survival horror elements, stunning visuals, and surprising moments. This single-player shooter takes place in Moscow after a nuclear war where people now live in disused subway tunnels underneath the city. You will explore these tunnels as well as go above ground and travel through a world populated by hostile factions and evil mutants. Metro 2033 Redux is a completely remastered version that comes with some of the gameplay innovations and features found in the second game in the series Metro Last Light.
As you have seen in the Metro series' close relative Stalker, gunplay requires discipline and precision as ammunition is scarce. This is one of the more survival-oriented aspects of Metro 2033 which also includes wearing a gas mask to explore radiation-laden areas and changing your air filter.
