What Exactly Is Dead by Daylight 2v8 Mode?
How does the mode work? Before we talk about how to play as a survivor or killer there's some news to share. In past 2v8 events killer players had to wait a long time to join a game. Starting with the November 2025 event there's a new feature called play while you queue. This lets killers play as survivors while they wait for a killer match.
Survivors Strategies
In a 2v8 match, there are eight survivors instead of the usual four So the maps are much bigger. There are 13 generators on the map and your team needs to fix eight of them. Even though this is fewer than in a normal game it can be harder to work together because there are so many players.
Things really change in 2V8 because perks are turned off. Instead survivors have to pick one of four classes: The Guide, The Medic, The Escapist or The Scout.
The Guide helps with objectives by showing nearby generators and giving teammates a speed boost when fixing them together. The Medic is the healer and can see injured teammates and heal them faster. Escapists are great at running from the killer. They can see windows and pallets give nearby teammates a speed boost and have a strong running ability. The Scout can see the killer when they break a pallet or damage a generator moves faster while crouching and stays quiet when hurt. Only four players can pick the same role in one match. So you won’t see more than four Medics at once.
Killers
Like survivors killers can't use their usual perks in the match. Instead they get special perks that help their unique abilities in this new team setting. For example the Nurse gets an extra Blink when near a teammate and the Trapper can carry up to four of his 12 traps at once.
Now, instead of putting survivors on hooks killers stomp on downed players to send them to a faraway cage like Pyramid Head’s Cage of Atonement. This helps killers because survivors can’t be body-blocked or escape by wiggling. But there are downsides too you can’t choose where the cage appears and if you grab someone from a vault or locker you have to drop them first.
Another benefit for the killer is that when a generator is completed The aura of any survivor who hasn't been caged is shown. This is really helpful since you can't use any perks to get information.
The big question for a killer especially when playing alone is whether to work with others or go solo. There are many generators to watch but using your perks and abilities together like I mentioned before might be the best way to surprise survivors. How will you play?
How Many Hatches Are Available in Dead By Daylight 2v8 Mode?
If the killers are winning and have caught most of the survivors the hatches will open. In a normal game one hatch opens for the last survivor. In a 2 versus 8 game three hatches open for the last two players.
This can be really fun because two killers might have trouble finding three hatches. If you’re a survivor do you try to escape by yourself or help your teammate? One thing to remember is that the hatch closes after one person uses it. So two survivors can’t go out through the same hatch.
