People expect first-person shooter (FPS) games to be fast and smooth. Doom The Dark Ages shows this really well and even older games like the original Doom, Half-Life, and Quake were all about quick action and shooting. But when Rainbow Six came out in 1998 it was very different. It was slow, careful and hard enemies could kill you quickly and every hallway felt like a big challenge. One of the people who made Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon also helped create Ground Branch a super realistic tactical shooter that has just been updated and improved.

Ground Branch is a tactical military-style first-person shooter that first came out in early access in 2018. It was made by Blackfoot Studios, started by John Sonedecker who worked on Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six. You and your teammates play as a special forces unit. The maps are small and tight and the missions focus on moving carefully through buildings, using silenced weapons, flashbangs and teamwork. The game is realistic guns are powerful and you can die quickly. There's not much on-screen help. So you have to rely on skill and strategy instead of just fast shooting.

Ground Branch has a very good rating on Steam and now it has a new update. For the first time you can play with three computer teammates instead of other players. Together you can complete missions with several goals. The system is still New so the AI teammates might act a bit strange. but it's an important step toward a full single-player mode in the game.

This new demo is a small part of what the full game will be like says Blackfoot. It includes basic AI teammates who can follow different commands several mission types like blowing things up searching areas and taking out key targets and even a short cutscene at the end.

The new Ground Branch update makes the enemy smarter and adds new features. You can blind enemies for a short time with your flashlight and they will check out any laser pointers they see. Enemies don’t follow the same paths all the time and you can change where they appear based on day or night.

You can see how much ammo is left in your magazine more clearly. If you hold the reload button your character will hold the magazine and show how many bullets are left. Then if you press the button once the magazine goes back into your weapon. If you hold the button longer you throw the magazine away. There is also a new map called Ranch which you can play in Ground Branch’s co-op mode. If you want to try it you can get Ground Branch here.
