New RTS Fractured Alliance Channels Classic Command & Conquer Vibes

Fractured Alliance feels like a new Command and Conquer game combining the sci-fi style of Tiberian Sun with the Cold War fear of Red Alert 2.

I like how realistic Tiberian Dawn feels but Command and Conquer 2 might be the best-looking game Westwood ever made. It has bright colors, cool laser weapons and mechs. Red Alert 2 also looks great but Tiberian Sun has a nice balance between a dark, post-apocalyptic world and classic sci-fi style. Right now is a good time for RTS games. Tempest Rising is a strong follow-up to the classics and Age of Empires 2 just got a new expansion. But Fractured Alliance by Tense Games feels the most like the old-school RTS style and now we know more about its third faction.

In Fractured Alliance the Cold War never ended and now the whole world is at war between the United Federation and the Eastern Alliance. You can use normal units like soldiers and tanks but also powerful ones like stealth bombers giant walking robots and superweapons. These superweapons can control the weather or send comets and asteroids at your enemies. The goal according to Tense is to bring back the classic feel of old-school strategy games with great music fun base building and big battles on different maps.

Fractured Alliance is made for both experienced RTS players and newcomers. That’s why it includes a third group called The Collective. They are a high-tech robot-based faction inspired by the Tau from Warhammer 40k.

If you're new to real-time strategy games playing as The Collective can make things easier. Their refineries find and collect ore on their own. So you don't have to control them. Their drone factories also build combat units by themselves. These units group up check if they're strong enough and then attack the enemy on their own.

You can build repair stations that automatically fix your buildings when they get damaged. So you don't need to watch your base all the time. Some units in The Collective are controlled by the player. This lets new players slowly learn more parts of the game as they get used to how Fractured Alliance works.

There’s no release date yet. but almost 27,000 people have already added Fractured Alliance to their Steam wishlists. If you want to do the same just click here.
