Bungie Delays Marathon Indefinitely Plans Major Improvements

Marathon is a new shooting game made by Bungie the creators of Destiny 2 and Halo. The game’s release has been delayed for now so the team can fix problems players talked about.

Bungie the company that made Destiny 2 and Halo announced they were making a new game called Marathon. Marathon is a famous sci-fi first-person shooter series from the 1990s and many fans were excited because the original games had a great story and world. People wanted to see more of that story in the new game. But as more information came out excitement started to fade. The new Marathon game is not a story-driven campaign like the old ones. Instead it is a live-service extraction shooter which is very different. There were also some problems like accusations that the art in the game copied other work and early players who tried the closed alpha test did not seem very impressed. Because of these issues Marathon which was supposed to come out in September has now been delayed with no new release date.

Earlier the CEO of Sony Interactive Herman Hulst said he noticed the alpha test did not get a great reaction but did not say the game would be delayed. However today Bungie shared an update on their website announcing the delay for Marathon.

The message says that players have been very clear and loud with their opinions on social media and Discord. Bungie has listened carefully to all the feedback. They understand that they need more time to make Marathon the best game it can be one that matches the players passion.

The post then officially says that Marathon will be delayed. Bungie will keep running closed tests including players from the Alpha to improve the game and try out new features. They also shared the main things they want to work on right now. These include making the AI enemies harder and more interesting giving players better rewards with new types of loot and special events and making the combat more exciting and strategic. They also want to improve the story and social parts of the game, so players have a better overall experience.

They said they will contact us again later this Fall. At that time they will tell us how much progress they have made on the game. They will also share the new release date of the game. This way they are giving us an updated timeline for when the game will launch.
