Scum a survival game like Rust, DayZ and The Forest has just released version 1.0 on Steam and many more people are now playing it.
Scum is a survival game that has been in Early Access on Steam for seven years. That means players could play it early while the developers kept improving it. This is pretty common for survival games which often take a long time to finish. But Scum took longer than most and fans were waiting a long time to see the final version. Now, the full version called Scum 1.0 is finally here. Since its release the game has become very popular on Steam and might even compete with other big survival games like Rust, DayZ, Subnautica and The Forest if it keeps doing well.
With the 1.0 update a lot has changed. The island map has been redesigned and there are now armed NPC enemies to fight. The weapons have been improved and it's easier for new players to learn how to play. The game also includes custom servers new quests and many bug fixes to make everything run more smoothly.
This new update has made Scum much more popular on Steam. Right now over 29,000 people are playing it even though its review score has dropped from Mostly Positive to Mixed. We’ll have to wait and see if players start giving it better reviews again now that more people are interested in it.
The game has officially launched as version 1.0 but that’s not the end. The developers are planning big updates throughout 2025 and you can check out the full roadmap on the game’s Steam page.
Scum’s full version is available now and you can buy it directly on Steam.
